Who can join UKAfro?
Anybody is welcome to join. The only requirement is that you must be 18 or over.
How much does it cost?
UKAfro is FREE!
I am having problem uploading pictures what can be wrong?
Please note that we only support jpg/jpeg format and the file size should be under 150KB. If you continue to have problems feel free to email it to us and we will do that for you for free.
Can I hide my profile?
Yes, you can. Just got to My Profile then Edit Preferences. When a profile is hidden, it will not show up in searches. If you must really hide your profile, bear in mind that no one can find your profile to contact you unless you are online or those you have previously contacted who are just replying to your mail.
Do I need to be a gold member to receive messages?
No, not at all. The privilege in being a gold member is that you can initiate chat or send message with any member of your choice regardless of their account status and they can in turn send you replies. We believe this type of setup offers real value unlike some other sites that requires payment from both parties.
Can I change my username?
Sorry, you cannot. This is your unique identifier on UKAfro and we cannot allow changes. Your best bet is to close and create a new profile. If you are already a paying member and wish to close your account, you will forfeit whatever credit you have left on the account but you may be allowed to change your username. The procedure we require is that you must inform us first then delete your account and create a new one. Email us the new account details and whatever credit you have will be transferred.
My picture is not showing or my description says "awaiting to be approved". What is happening?
At the moment when you upload a new picture or edit any of the forms that require customised input from you, those will not show up until a member of our staff approves it which shouldn't take very long.
Why is it that when I block sender while chatting they can still send me Instant Message?
Actually they are only replying to your last message. This can only happen if you apply block and then proceed to reply to them. If you block a sender while chatting you should not reply to them if you do not want to hear from them. One thing to note here is that chat block is session based. Meaning it will be cleared when you logout or at the end of the day unlike mailbox block which is permanent or until you/owner removes the block.
I seem to be getting logged off each time I login?
Please note that your session will timeout after over 20 minutes of inactivity. If you don't think this is the problem please ensure your browser is set to accept cookies.
From your Internet Explorer go to Tools > Internet Option click on >Privacy tab and then click >Advanced. Click >Override default settings, and then specify how you want Internet Explorer to handle cookies from first-party websites. That should fix the problem. If you are not using Internet Explorer please check the browser Help section on how to enable cookies.
I still haven't received the Activation Code what can I do?
Sometimes it can take a few minutes to arrive. Sometimes also, it could get caught up on some mail server filter software which can regard it as a spam. To resolve this, login with your username/password and opt to have it re-sent. If that fails again, please opt to enter a new email address and a new one will be generated and sent there.
Note that Activation Code is changed once either of the above activity is performed. So you must always use the latest sent if you have requested it more than once. If you use AOL, just add our domain to your address book/safelist as ukafro.com as there is usually problem delivering mail to AOL or any other mailbox provider
How can I close my account?
To close your account, please login and go to My Profile and then choose
the option Close Account. Note that this action is irreversible once complete.
How to buy an item
You can search for the item you want by browsing through the categories
or by searching through the entire database using the right keywords.
If you are interested in an item, contact the owner and ask more questions
about it.
If you are satisfied, arrange payment with the seller. But deal
safely especially If money is involved.
How to list/sell an item
From the Marketplace homepage, browse through to the appropriate category until you are presented with a link to Add a New Item. Your listing will appear in that category. Please ensure you are in the right category as once listed you cannot move it around.
Life span of listed items
All listed items can be removed by owner at any time however our system currently deletes any listing over 60days.
Life span of Saved Items
To save any item you like, you must have Ukafro marketplace account and logged on. Then this action can be accomplished by clicking on Save This link. All saved items are deleted by our system after 30 days.
How to send replies or contact seller
If you receive a private enquiry about your listing, you can reply directly to the email included on the email. For all other enquiries, you will need to login to your Marketplace account and go to My Enquiries to reply. If you are making an initial enquiry, from the detailed view of the items, click Make An Offer to contact the owner/seller.
How long before my listings submitted are approved?
All new items or edited items will be approved by a member of our staff. We'll endeavour to do this in 24hrs max!
I have a UKAfro account why do I need to register again?
Just so that your marketplace account can continue to run if you decide to close your ukafro account. There's only a few fields to complete and even quicker if you already have an account and logged.
How to edit an item
To modify your listing at any time, login to marketplace and go to My Listings > Edit.
How to edit my account profile
You can change your account details at any time by login on to your Marketplace account and clicking on My Account.
How to delete an item
To delete your listing at any time, login to marketplace and go to My Listings > Delete. Once deleted, it's permanently gone.
Why does my selected location sometime changes
If you set your location to All UK for instance, so you can see all items listed in the UK and then try to add a new item at somepoint, your new location will defaults to London until you change it again because all items are listed under cities.
I cannot change my location or getting cookie error
Unfortunately, you cannot make much use of UKAfro if your browser cannot accept cookies. From your Internet Explorer go to Tools > Internet Option click on >Privacy tab and then click >Advanced. Click >Override default settings, and then specify how you want Internet Explorer to handle cookies from first-party websites. That should fix the problem. If you are not using Internet Explorer please check the browser Help section on how to enable cookies.
How to change my userid
At the moment you can't change it. However, if you must change your userid, please contact us.
